Switchgear, assemblies, rotating machines, transformers, cables, batteries, lighting, equipment for explosive atmospheres and electrical installations. Almost entirely IEC work; Europe adopts it as EN through CENELEC.
Exported electrical equipment typically needs IEC-based test reports (via the IECEE CB Scheme) for CE, UKCA or national certification; IP ratings under IEC 60529 are a standard item in catalogues and tenders.
